If Saturday's a better day to take care of things like getting a passport, then you're in luck, because Sept. 17 is Passport Day in the USA.
The Shelby Clerk's Office will be open for processing passports only on Sept. 17, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. They'll have photo service available, too.
Cost for first-timers 16 and older pay $165 for an adult passport book and card; $135 for an adult passport book; or $55 for an adult passport card.
Adults 16 and older who renew pay $140 for passport book and card; $110 for passport book; and $30 for passport card.
Minors under age 16 pay $120 for passport book and card; $105 for passport book; and $40 for passport card.
You'll also be able to apply for standard processing, which takes four to six weeks, or pay an additional $60 for quicker processing, which cuts the time in half.
