Boat Left On Side of Road Ransacked

Thieves ransacked a boat that was left on the side of the road for a few hours in Utica.

On Monday evening, thieves ransacked a jet boat that was parked on the side of the road at Hall and Deshon.

The boat owner told police that while he towed his boat home, a bolt had broken, casusing the hitch to loosen. The boat was left on the side of the road for several hours while the owner went home to call his insurance company and a tow truck.

When the owner returned to the boat a few hours later, he noticed there were several items missing, including a camera case, camera lens, goggles, seat cushions, radio, CDs and cash from his wallet.

The case was closed because of a lack of suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call the Utica Police Department at 586-731-2345.

Good question. That does sound suspicious.
