Daddy-Daughter Dance Creates Cherished Memories
Dads won't want to miss the opportunity to spend an evening dancing with their favorite girl at the Shelby Parks and Recreation Department event.
No man is more special to a little girl than her very own daddy and going to a daddy-daughter event is by far the most fun a little girl can have with her dad. Getting dressed up like a princess and dancing all night with that favorite man is every girl's dream.
This year, the Shelby Parks and Recreation Department invites all dads and daughters to get dressed in their very best for the 2011 Daddy-Daughter Dance on Thursday, February 10 at the Cherry Creek Banquet Center.
Trish Insana of the Shelby Parks Department hopes to see 150 to 200 people at this year's event. "For many this is an annual event. We have been doing the event for longer than I can remember," said Insana.
Grandfather Sandy Banks has been attending the Shelby event for the past four years. Before that, he lived in Clinton Township and went to their event. "It's a great event with a great venue, very cozy," said Banks. "When I had my children they didn't have dances like this. So when we found out about these, I told my son-in-law I would take my granddaughters. He didn't mind at all.
Banks and everyone else in town began preparing for the dance weeks ago. "We go before Christmas and start looking for their dresses," Banks said. "We still need one more dress." His granddaughters are age 7 and 11.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a scrumptious buffet dinner, dancing to a DJ, keepsake photos and a small gift. A beautiful nosegay will be given to each lovely lady courtesy of the Shelby Gardeners Club. The event is sponsored by Dr. Ban R. Barbat & Genisys Credit Union. Tickets are $40 per couple for residents, $14 for additional daughters. Reservations can be made by calling 586-731-0300.
