The wind blew hard, very hard, Sarturday afternoon, making it very difficult for either team to throw the ball effectively.

The difference, however, was Cass Tech's ability to run the ball when it needed to, while simply couldn't get any ground attack going. The result was a heartbreaking, 6-3, season-ending loss for the Eagles in the Division 1 state semifinals.

The Eagles took advantage of a bothced Cass Tech punt and converted it into an 11-yard field goal, while Cass Tech scored the game's lone touchdown on a 1-yard scoring run from Royce Jenkins-Stone.

Neither team would really threaten after that, making for a defensive battle that kept fans from both schools on the edge of their seats until the closing moments of the game.

The Technicians advance to the Division 1 finals Nov. 26 against Detroit Catholic Central. The Eagles, on the other hand, wrap up the 2011 campaign with an 11-2 overall record.
