Family Accused of Selling Drugs Out of Shelby Gas Station Returns to Court

Five family members are facing felony charges stemming from allegations that they sold synthetic marijuana and other drugs from the Citgo Gas Station, now Express Gas, and Woodstock Smoke Shop on Van Dyke in Shelby Township.

UPDATE: The preliminary exam was postponed at the request of the defense attorney.

Five family members accused of selling K2 and other drugs out of a Shelby Township gas station and smoke shop are due back in 41-A District Court Thursday for their preliminary exam.

The Dabish family – a mother, two sons and two grandsons – were arrested in October 2012 after Shelby Township police and federal agents raided the former Citgo Gas Station, now Express Gas, and Woodstock Smoke Shop on Van Dyke at 21 Mile Road.

Officers confiscated large quantities of the synthetic drug K2, also known as Spice, from both stores as well as a Sterling Heights storage unit following a search of the family's West Bloomfield and Sterling Heights homes.

The owner of the gas station, Faize Dabish, 63, of West Bloomfield; her sons, David Dabish, 39; Derick Dabish, 31, and Dabish Dabish, 35, of West Bloomfield and Sterling Heights; and grandsons Audrick Dabish, 18, and Dedrick Dabish, 17, both of Sterling Heights, were arraigned in December 2012 on multiple felony charges, including delivering and manufacturing controlled substances, maintaining a drug house and possession of a controlled substance.

Investigators said the suspects had been distributing synthetic marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, hydrocodone and marijuana out of their stores for several months.

  • Faize Dabish, 63, of West Bloomfield was arraigned on a felony charge of controlled substances - delivering and manufacturing, a charge that carries up to seven years and/or a $10,000 fine and a misdemeanor charge of maintaining a drug house, which carries a two-year jail sentence and or a $25,000 fine.

  • Dabish Dabish, 35, of Sterling Heights was arraigned on charges of controlled substances - delivering and manufacturing, a charge that carries up to seven years and/or a $10,000 fine; controlled substance - possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor that carries up to one-year in prison and/or a $2,000 fine, and a misdemeanor charge of maintaining a drug house, which carries a two-year jail sentence and/or a $25,000 fine.
  • Audrick Dabish, 18, of Sterling Heights was arraigned on charges of controlled substances - delivering and manufacturing, a charge that carries up to seven-years and/or a $10,000 fine; controlled substance- delivering and manufacturing marijuana, a felony that carries up to four-years in prison and/or a $20,000 fine; controlled substance - possession of methamphetamine and ecstasy, a felony that carries up to ten-years in prison and/or $15,000 fine and assaulting, resisting and obstructing a police officer, a felony that carries up to two-years in jail and/or $2,000 fine.
  • Dedrick Dabish, 17, of Sterling Heights was arraigned on charges of controlled substance - possession and analogues, a felony that carries up to two years in prison and or a $2,000 fine.

The family returns to court Thursday, Jan. 31, for a preliminary trial.

The "problem" is that most god-fearing decent people in this community have moral and family values that we put first. We don't lie... deceive... manipulate... take advantage of .... or find ways to get around laws for the express purpose of creating financial benefit at the expense of anyone else. .. and especially where it relates to children and the sale of drugs.
However, this family enterprise embodies all of the above. They represent pure evil and they need to face the most serious consequence that our society can throw at them. Begin by boycotting any of their businesses left standing. Lets get all the Dabish in the community rubbish and demand that maximum punishment is imposed to the fullest when they are found guilty in a court of law

They have smiles on their faces because they are sociopaths, not because things are going well for them. Evil runs deep in this family. They only care about themselves and could care less about other human beings. They need to be deported the moment they are let out of prison. Why is it that 90% of synthetic drug dealers are foreigners? Hmmmm

The foriegn scumbag dabish family were caught possessing cocaine to the uninformed and uneducated. What a dumb looking and stupid family. The mom looks like the usual old hag/abused whore you see in the old foriegn photographs. Retarded looking crackheads for kids and grandkids. Take the phone away from them until they learn English.

This family is a disgrace. Parents, adult children, & teen children greedily conspiring to push synthetic garbage & illegal drugs within a community that has patronized & supported their business for years.

I quit lining their pockets when they began treating me as though they were doing me a favor by allowing me to purchase their goods, instead of appreciating my support of local business. This was a couple of years ago. I've since gone down the street to a family owned business, they truly appreciate it & are always kind, along with making a point of learning ones name and treat us like friends.

The comments & behavior exhibited during news coverage by some members of this family, cemented my gut feelings & reaffirmed my decision to stop patronizing their business.

The blatant disregard of this communities concerns & requests took a backseat to their own wants & greed. It's clear there isn't concern by them for teens, as teen family members are involved, and their safety, health, & wellbeing. The only apparent concern appears to be more $$ at any expense.

I truly hope this family is knocked down a few pegs and made to pay the price for inexcusable disregard to society & laws. Our Judges need to take a hard stand with these kinds of people/criminals. No plea deals....make them stand trial & be judged by juries of our society. Citizens should make every attempt to be heard loud & clear that this won't be tolerated in our community.

Stop shopping with them, there are plenty of gas stations & smoke shops within a stones throw of them that are happy to serve our community & truly appreciate our patronage.

This family of dirtbags will try to manipulate the legal system just like they tried to manipulate public opinion last May when the owner appeared at a Shelby Board meeting promising to not sell K2 and Spice and other related products targeted at the youth off our Community through loopholes in the law at the time... and then he had the audacity to continue selling this crap out of their back door and other affiliated businesses until the task force found out. What this country needs is stronger consequences when perps like them are convicted in a court of law.

Personally, I would like to see a public hanging for the whole lot of them and others like them if (when) they are found guilty in a quick trial. No repeaters and no tax dollars used to lock them up or jettison them to some other country.

In the mean time, follow their trails and wherever they are running a business... boycott it and demonstrate against them!!

Didn't Jesus say something about casting the first stone? And I could swear he advocated for forgiveness. Oh that's right, you're a fascist, tyrant masquerading as reasoned and caring. Can't you find comfort in letting our societies law be carried out at the hands of a impartial Judge and our elected officials? Hanging? Seriously?? What a joke.

I couldn't agree more. They are responsible for much destruction in too many American families. I talk to victims and their families everyday. This family is pure evil. The community needs them out of business and gone! They are poison, much like the drugs they sell. No deal for these criminals. Let's write letters to the judge!

Now that's karma baby

11:01 pm on Friday, February 1, 2013

Their whole family needs to be punished. We all predicted that this family would one day get exactly what they deserve. How sad is it that the people in their lives that should be setting an example and should be teaching them to be respectful upstanding young men are teaching them to live a life of crime. Way to go Grandma! This is karma. When you treat people badly you get what you deserve. I think you finally have yourselves in enough trouble that you won't be getting out of it very easily.

Yes Sarah, I have copied this and I will be including it with my letter to the Judge. I sent my first letter yesterday, and will be writing the court weekly . They need to hear from each and every family that has been affected by these "acccused" drug dealers .Many in this family have lengthy criminal records, it is public information that can be viewed on the Macomb and Oakland County Circuit Court websites. We as a community need to keep up the preassure and let the courts know we will not tollorate "Drug Dealers" living amongst us!

Dedrick ~ your language & blatant disrespect toward me & the communities opinions and concerns has done nothing more than reveal your character ~ below an ants belly.

To tell people you don't want/need their business in a public forum is not only nonproductive, but tells the community exactly how you feel about them as people & their potential patronage of these businesses. You're driving business away....which is alright with the majority of Utica & Shelby Township residents....as most would prefer these businesses fold & for greedy, disrespectful & thinking they're above the law individuals leave our community.

You've used defaming language toward others. I've copied all of these comments and printed them. I'd suggest others do the same should you choose to, obviously a very immature teen, publicly defame them.

Language just reveals the real content of this guy's inner soul. These dirtbags are the lowest of the low so you shouldn't expect them to talk any differently. I wouldn't waste my breath even responding to him or the rest of their clan as they are subhuman and have no respect for any socially-redeeming values the rest of us share.
I just wish this country had capital punishment where we could all lobby after their court trial and conviction to get their necks in a real tight noose. Afterall that is what they would get if found guilty of the same crimes in their native land.

I have taken screen shots of the comments posted. I will be submitting my letter to the court Monday morning. As far as not wanting our business, of coarse they don't... They want the business of the youth.. The kids who purchase cigarettes under age and those who are addicted to drugs... Since they continue to sell illegal narcotics out of their business aka drug house..

You've shown all what an immature & foul mouthed brat you are! Certainly not a son I nor many, if not all, in this community would be proud of.

Post all the links, profanity, ugly or defensive statements you like. There's an old saying "He who protests the most, is likely the guilty one".

I'll not comment concerning your ridiculous ranting again. BTW I'll certainly be contacting an Attorney ~ Dedrick Dabish, know it all fool, you made a very big mistake using your name, good likelihood of a defamation of character lawsuit to add to your current charges/legal troubles.

That should really impress your family....NOT!

Foul language is demeaning to you...obviously just one more character flaw added to a long list of public opinion.

Jenny Whelan... can you or Maria write another column defining/updating when the Dabish clan hearing has been re-scheduled? (date/time/venue/)?

I would like to see a very large Community rally at the courthouse on their next day in Court most definitely involving the broader media of the Detroit area (Fox, ABC, NBC) and ideally Community leaders who were part of the task force who helped indict these dirtbags. The added presence from our County Executive department, County Sheriff, Township Supervisor , Township Police Chief and various church group leaders can show we are all united in supporting the prosecution of this case to the fullest extent of the law... to communicate that nothing less than total and swift justice is done... and to rally behind a Community mandate that we don't want the prosecution to back down on this clan with any type of plea deal! Nothing less than a full trial...full justice and full consequences is our uncompromising expectation for these morally-deficient souls!

Perhaps even set up a pre-rally meeting so everyone can get on the same page with all facts of the indictment and prosecution next steps. I know you will get a tremendous amount of local support and involvement for this effort.

Yeah, it's obvious that they don't care about anyone but themselves. Sure, a business exists to turn a profit, and while businesses don't have an obligation to be socially responsible, most folks that operate a small business tend to be community focused and they don't normally sell controlled substances to turn said profit. Community services DO NOT include peddling drugs to MY community.

We'll see who gets the last laugh on this one.

If they can't, the Judge most certainly can. Dedrick's Internet/Phone activity can be tracked, all the Judge would need to do is order the records to be turned over to the Court. Many people are under the assumption that if they delete things or use alternate identities online or phone they can't be traced. They couldn't be more mistaken.

John, It is very interesting how you measure success. Geez ... I'm glad my children were brought up with a broader interpretation of what constitutes success in this world. and to think ... silly me ... that I always preached to my kids strong moral fiber and good character was the first and foremost attribute above everything else, hands-down above financial motivators.

... With your overall position, I would only guess that you also feel anyone has the right to exploit anyone else in this world couched under the phrase 'caveat emptor'. And if we have a society like that, then why have any laws at all-- simply let everyone (including our kids) fend for themselves while letting the pond scum reap the benefits. Yep, great idea John.
