Have Plans on Labor Day? How About A Walk on the Trail?
The annual Labor Day Community Walk on the Paint Creek Trail is a free family event.
You don't have to travel to Mackinac for a Labor Day Bridge Walk.
There's one planned in our back yards.
The Friends of the Paint Creek Trail are hosting their annual Labor Day Community Walk and Run on Monday. It starts at 9 a.m. at the Rochester Municipal Park and is a part of a statewide network of community walks that coincide with the famous Mackinac Bridge Labor Day Walk.
This is the seventh year of the Paint Creek walk.
“This is, by far, our most popular event of the year," said Kristen Myers, Paint Creek Trail Manager. "It’s a chance for families, and trail users of all ages and abilities, to enjoy a morning walk or run together, prior to the fall school season."
Here's what you need to know about the event:
- It's free: Online registration is available at www.paintcreektrailfriends.org. This is a free family event, with a suggested donation of $5 per family to raise funds for trail improvements.
- When/where: Onsite registration starts at 8 a.m.; the walk begins at 9 a.m. The event starts at the Kiwanis Pavilion inside the park.
- How: There are two routes: a 2-mile walk and a 5-mile walk/run. Because of construction projects on the Paint Creek Trail, new routes utilizing the Downtown Rochester River Walk and the Clinton River Trail are being utilized this year.
