Head Coach Smith Makes Debut At Eisenhower's First Game Saturday

Eagles will play Port Huron at Wayne State on Aug. 25.

Chris Smith’s debut as the head coach of the Eisenhower High School football team will come on a big stage against a familiar foe.

Eisenhower will begin the 2012 high school football season by taking on Port Huron in the Detroit Sports Commission Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State University on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Eisenhower advanced to last year’s Division 1 state semifinals.

Smith, who was named head coach after the retirement of Bob Lantzy, will lead the Eagles against Port Huron. The Big Reds defeated Eisenhower in the 2011 regular season.

This year, Eisenhower and Port Huron will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 at Tom Adams Field in Wayne State.

The Detroit Sports Commission Prep Kickoff Classic formerly was called the Big Day Prep Showdown.
