Shop Shelby: Kirk Masters & Sons Jewelers

Kirk Masters & Sons Jewelers is a third-generation, family-run business with a knack for creating custom, timeless pieces.

has generations of jewelry making experience. The store has been open in Shelby Township since the 1970s. The store is third generation family owned and operated, with a loyal clientele. "Service is everything to us," said owner Ryan Masters.

Masters' grandfather Joseph opened the first store in 1959 in downtown Utica. In the 70s they moved to 23 Mile and Van Dyke. Today, they have locations in both Shelby Township and Richmond. Masters runs the store along with his brothers Joe and Justin, and his father Kirk. 

Kirk Masters & Sons is a full-service jeweler. They do repairs on site for watches and jewelry. They also create many custom pieces—in fact, Kirk Masters & Sons was voted best designer jeweler in Detroit by Channel 4. They specialize in bridal, loose diamonds, engagement rings and more. They also carry men's jewelry.

About 40 percent of what Kirk Masters & Sons does is custom work. Sometimes customers have an idea based on a picture, or from their imagination. "We start from scratch, and help them create something special," said owner Ryan Masters.
