Miller Among 8 Michigan Reps Recognized for Pro-Manufacturing Votes in Congress
Candice Miller, who represents Michigan's 10th congressional district, including Shelby Township and Utica, will receive the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence Monday.
In recognition of her legislative support for American manufacturing, U.S. Rep. Candice Miller will receive a bipartisan award from the nation’s largest industrial trade association on Monday.
Miller, who represents Michigan's 10th congressional district, including Shelby Township and Utica, is due to receive the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence.
This award honors members of the Congress for their leadership and work supporting U.S. manufacturers who drive economic growth, job creation and prosperity.
"Our manufactures in Michigan and across the nation have seen difficult days and we have all stuck together during these difficult times, management and labor, public and private sector, with everyone working to find a way to build a better future," Miller said in a statement.
"It has been my honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with American manufacturing to pursue policies in Congress to move the industry and its workers forward."
In the 112th Congress, which met Jan. 3, 2011 to Jan. 3, 2013, 296 senators and representatives earned this distinction, eight of which represent Michigan.
NAM's Key Vote Advisory Committee, which is made up of executives from small, mid-sized and large manufacturing companies, selects the key manufacturing votes to be considered in NAM's Congressional Voting Record.
Members of the House and Senate who vote in support of pro-manufacturing policies at least 70 percent of the time earn the NAM Award.
Miller will accept the award Monday morning at the General Motors Heritage Center in Sterling Heights
