Macomb County's time on the silver screen in the movie Family Weekend will come later this month.
The film, which was shot at locations throughout the county, will open March 29 in Detroit, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas, according to the movie's website. Locally, the film will premiere at MJR Marketplace Cinema on Van Dyke in Sterling Heights.

On Feb. 12, 2011, Clinton Township Patch editor Jenny Whalen joined more than 70 extras – including Dakota High School alumna Alyssa Vanderziel – to shoot a variety of scenes at Lakeview High School in St. Clair Shores.
The film features Rulin as a 16-year-old jump-roping champ who takes her dysfunctional parents hostage in an effort to transform them into an actual family.
Family Weekend premiered at the 2012 Cockatoo Island Film Festival, but was re-titled Queen Freak for its appearances at the Cannes and Canberra film festivals. It is due to be released in the U.S. under its original title.
A trailer for the movie is also available on online.
