Repairs to Traffic Lights Still Underway at Intersection of M-53 and 23 Mile
The intersection should be treated as a four-way stop until repairs are complete.
Traffic was still slow moving around noon Monday at the intersection of 23 Mile and M-53 as crews continued to repair the traffic lights knocked out by an early morning accident.
Shelby Township police say the disruption was caused when a driver lost control and hit one of the poles suspending the intersection's traffic lights.
The accident took place at around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Police Chief Roland Woelkers said he did not believe there were any injuries as a result of the crash.
However, repairs to the traffic lights have caused slowdowns in the area as the intersection has been turned into a four-way stop until repairs can be completed.
There is no word on when the intersection's lights will again be operational, but repairs are expected to take most of the day.
