Shelby Township to Swear In New Police Chief
Roland Woelkers will be sworn in as the new police chief April 12.
It's about to be official: Shelby Township will swear-in their new police chief April 12.
Roland Woelkers promotion has been in effect since March 21, 2012, after the Shelby Township Board of Trustees accepted a counter-offer made by Woelkers.
He officially will be sworn in during a public ceremony at the township boardroom at 7 p.m.
Woelkers will become the fifth chief of police in the 58-year history of the township's police department.
Woelkers, who was the Captain of the department, has been playing the role of chief since September 2011, when he was appointed acting chief after the board agreed not to renew former Chief Robert Leman’s one-year contract.

Mr. Berz, why don't you attend the swearing in and call Chief Woelkers, a 21-year veteran of the Shelby PD that has more than 30 years of law enforcement experience and is a Vietnam veteran, that he is a puppet and/or marionette. If you do that i'll respect your opinion on this site otherwise just shut your mouth and leave business to the adults.

You could mind your own as well Mister Heard!
I actually feel for Chief Woelkers for having to work under the command and whims of the Supervisor. I think the Supervisor will make it tough for the Chief to run a transparent department. There was no intent of defaming Chief Woelkers in my statement. I apologize for coming off wrong. I have nothing but respect for a veteran police officer and especially a veteran who served in something as awful as the Vietnam war. If you read my comment it says "does Supervisor Stathakis prefer....". Supervisor Stathakis has proven his lack of leadership. More and more people are finding a huge lack of trust and honesty in anything the Supervisor says anymore. He has no leadership skills like Chief Wolkers.

I think the problem with the previous police chief was lack of vision and ability to take command and control. Mr. Woelkers appears to care about the citizens and the image of the Shelby Township Police force.
Let's give him a chance to lead. The police have a serious public perception issue because of the previous failed leadership.

IS THAT A FACT OR IS THAT ONE PERSONS "TWISTED" OPINION?
