Shelby Township Woman Killed In Crash on M-59, Mound

The Shelby Township police are looking for witnesses in a fatal crash Tuesday on M-59 and Mound roads.

A 56-year-old Shelby Township woman died in a two-car crash Tuesday afternoon on M-59 and Mound roads.

A Shelby Township police officer was in the area and witnessed the crash. The officer said a Ford Flex heading westbound on the M-59 service drive struck a Saturn, which was traveling south on Mound.

The force of the crash sent the Saturn into a cyclone fence. The officer, along with the help of other drivers in the area, flipped the Saturn back on its wheels and found the female driver dead inside.

Police said it's unclear if the woman died from the force of the crash or if she had a medical emergency.  The driver of the Flex had minor injuries and was released from the scene after being interviewed.

The victim's name is not being released because the crash remains under investigation. Police are looking for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call the Shelby Township Police Department at 586-731-2121.

The police are looking for witnesses? I thought they witnessed it themselves.... Such a shame. No family should have to deal with a death in the family so close to the holidays.

I saw the aftermath of this accident, so sad. I felt so helpless, all I could do was pray. may God be with her family during this time, and also with the other driver for whom this can not be easy.
