The third Monday in January—otherwise known as Martin Luther King Jr. Day—can be a day spent sleeping in and lounging around the house, or it can be a time of volunteering.
Nowhere is that more true than the Shelby Township and Utica area. On Monday, Jan. 21, hundreds of students, business people and seniors will take part in the MLK Day of Service at locations throughout Metro Detroit through partnership with local service organizations such as Macomb County Habitat for Humanity and Gleaner's Community Food Bank, among countless others.
Will you be giving some of your time to a good cause, or did you already on Saturday—the National Day of Service declared by President Barack Obama? If you're still looking for a way to give, visit http://mlkday.gov/.
Show off a job well done and inspire your neighbors to do their part by posting the photos on Shelby-Utica Patch.
