You already have a voice. This proposal doesn't need to passed for that to continue to happen as it does today.

Prop 2 has nothing to do with working conditions, fair wages, classroom size, or appropriate instructional materials. ALL of those can be negotiated now. Prop 2 has EVERYTHING to do with Gov. Snyder and PA 152. PA 152 forces all public employees to pay 20% of their healthcare costs or a hard cap.

It doesn't matter if the school district, municipality, or another other local government institution can afford it, the employees have to pay. PA 152 is WRONG! It was created so that school districts and municipalities would save some money but not every one of these institutions needed this. The power to make these decisions should be in the hands of the local elected officials in charge of these individual areas. We don't need Gov. Snyder micromanaging us.

But don't think for one second that this is about fair wages, classroom size or instruction manuals. Gov. Snyder hasn't created a law against negotiating those items yet. But he could and Prop 2 would stop that.

Don't you already have collective bargaining? There was a teacher that abused my autistic sin by throwing a weighted blanket over his head and the school's response was to give her position in the office...for the most part, teachers are wonderful...but making it more difficult to get rid of poor quality teachers does not make sense to me ....can you explain what disadvantages you currently have with union representation and why you need new laws?

I don't believe it's a question of attacking teachers, as Ms. Smith is states here. as much as voting "NO" is about protecting taxpayers interest over those of teachers unions. Parents and taxpayers should have more rights and control over how and who is teaching their children.

I took a "risk" and voiced my heart on this blog. You have a right to your opinions. I don't believe you really want to hear what I have to say in regards to your comments. I encourage you to also write your own blogs to share your thoughts.

Complaining about paying 20% for your benefits is pathetic. Welcome to the real world. Just remember our tax dollars fund your benefits. Stop whining and be happy that you still enjoy benefits and pensions that are richer then the majority of the tax payers that pay for your rich benefits.

Ms. Smith, I believe you and your opinion have been treated more than fair here. No one has said you are a whinning selfish person only concerned with yourself, holding our school aged childrens education hostage for our hard earned tax money. No one has even insinuated you might be in the percentage of terrible teachers who may need the protection of a union.
A truely great teacher should be able to be hired by whatever district they choose and name their own price for wages and benefits...... No, wait, the unions treat you all the same, so taxpayers have to treat you all the same also..... Not the taxpayers fault or Snyder's fault, It's greedy unions who protect bad teachers and force parent (taxpayers) to protect our children.
The union treats all teachers and taxpayers alike and pitted us against each other. Taxpayers and their elected representation "GOOD", Greedy, unrealistic union demands for teachers "BAD". (Meaning this proposal).
