The right medicine to help students learn is having school supplies.
At least that is the way Beaumont Hospital nurses feel.
The nursing staff at Beaumont recently collected five boxes of overflowing
school supplies to donate to Utica Community Schools.
For the nurses - many of whom live in UCS - the effort allows them to support
their community.
"We want to give back to the community we serve," said Bernie Hutek, a
registered nurse at Troy Beaumont.
The hospital staff donated such items as backpacks, folders, pencils, pens,
papers and - something very appropriate for their profession - Kleenex.
