Utica High, Ford II to end season celebrating "Hometown Heroes"

The annual Ford II-Utica High School regular season finale will be taking on
a special meaning this year.

The football programs will be sponsoring the first of what will become a
"Hometown Heroes" Bowl game on Friday, October 19 at 7 p.m. at Swinehart field.

The game is being dedicated to the police, fire and EMS departments of Utica,
Shelby Township, Macomb County Sherriff’s Department and Sterling Heights.

In addition, donations are being sought to sponsor a scholarship for a Utica
High School 2013 graduate who plans to pursue a career in law enforcement.

"Team members are also looking to play for somebody special," UHS social
studies teacher Todd Koehn said. "We are soliciting sponsors for anyone that
would like one of our team members to play for their heroes."

To the UHS and HF II football programs, coaching staffs, and the players. On behalf of the Shelby Township Firefighters WE want to thank you for your invitation to participate in your first "Hometown Heroes" Bowl game. We truly appreciate being recognized by your organizations. Shelby Township Firefighters Local 1338 have committed $500.00 to UHS Coach Koehn as a donation to UHS to help offset expenses and we challenge the other departments participating to match our donation.
