Report: Shelby Township, Utica Wholesale Water Rates May Rise

While the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) is proposing an increase in wholesale water rates, it's too early to tell whether Troy rate payers will be affected.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Water Board will consider new rates next month; rates would take effect July 1.

The Free Press report indicates Shelby Township's wholesale rate could go up by 5.24 percent, while Utica's could increase by 6.10 percent. The proposed rates are subject to approval by the Detroit Board of Water Commissioners, which is to take them up Feb. 26.
