Autism Nonprofit and Local Hair Salon Team Up

Local nonprofit Play-Place for Autistic Children is teaming up with Luxeva Salon to host a Cut-A-Thon on Sunday September 22, 2013 from 10AM until 6PM.

The Cut-A-Thon hosted by Luxeva Salon is located at 52045 Van Dyke Ave, Shelby Twp., MI 48316.

Kids, men, and women alike are invited to get their hair cut for $8, $12, and $20 respectively. 100% of proceeds go directly to services benefiting children affected by autism. Families are encouraged to donate while enjoying food, refreshments, and taking part in a raffle.

"We are so excited to be partnering with a local business like Luxeva," said Shell Jones, Executive Director at Play-Place for Autistic Children. "Their show of dedication and enthusiasm is above and beyond our expectations and we expect this will be a fun-filled day where families can come out and make a real difference in the lives of families affected by autism in our community."

In addition to haircuts, 10% of all retail and gift card purchases will be donated to Play-Place for Autistic Children. Those willing to donate above the suggested amounts are encouraged to do so. Kids will be greeted by Paulie the PAC Rat, the Play-Place for Autistic Children mascot.

"Luxeva is just honored and humbled to do a fundraiser with Play-Place," said Brandy Hofinger, owner of Luxeva Salon. "Each of us here at the salon are connected to a family affected by autism either directly or indirectly. Luxeva has been looking to give back to our community, and raising money for families affected by autism is the right fit for us."
