$5,970 Raised to Benefit Local Mom Fighting Cancer in Mexico

Kellie Kource of Utica is dedicated to helping her sister, as her sister has for other people.

Kellie Kource's sister has always been the type to be there for other people. Now, she's asking for help to let her sister continue to do just that.

An online campaign to benefit Kource's 29-year-old sister, Kaye, in her fight against metastatic melanoma, has raised nearly $6,000 since beginning on Oct. 30. Kaye has undergone treatment at Oasis of Hope, an alternative cancer treatment center in Mexico, since Nov. 3.

The campaign hopes to raise $10,000 to help offset the costs associated with her treatment and aftercare. Kource posted an update to her sister's condition:

"Kaye and Mom have stated that the doctors are nice and encouraging, and the atmosphere is more peaceful and warming. ... A little different than traditional hospital treatment in the states, but mental state is very important also so it is good to focus on all aspects of healing.
"She has always been the support for other people, it is our turn to help support her in any way possible, prayers, donations, and positive thoughts."
