Eaglet Born at Stony Creek

The Huron-Clinton Metroparks report a female eaglet was born in mid-April at Stony Creek Metropark.

The newest inhabitant of Stony Creek Metropark is gaining national attention.

A female eaglet was born in mid-April at the park, according to a post on the Metroparks blog.

Members from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service banded the eaglet on a recent visit, the blog reported, and the mother is about 10 years old and originally came from Ohio. The father eagle likely younger than his mate.

The Macomb Daily reports this is the first time in the history of Stony Creek Metropark a nesting bald eagle has called the park home.

The article added that Metropark officials are keeping the location of the nest secret, but may provide an eagle watch presentation in the coming weeks.
