Eisenhower Football Team to Play at Ford Field

The Eisenhower High School football team will play at Ford Field Aug. 31 as part of the Forgotten Harvest Football Classic.

Eisenhower will be one of eight high school football teams that will play on the field where the pros play in a fundraising game for Forgotten Harvest.

The team is starting the 2013 football season by taking part in the Forgotten Harvest Football Classic at Ford Field.

There will be four games played Aug. 31 which will showcase some of the top teams in the region while raising funds for Forgotten Harvest and the fight against hunger in Metro Detroit.

“In one day of great football games, we hope to raise enough support to provide a total of one million meals to children in Metro Detroit,” said Russ Russell, chief development officer of Forgotten Harvest, in a release. “This is a tremendous commitment by the schools, players, families and fans to fighting hunger in our communities.”

Tickets are available for $12, and include all four football games scheduled. Gates open at 9 a.m. and will be followed by:

  • Detroit East English Village vs. Detroit Loyola at 10:00 a.m.
  • Detroit Martin Luther King vs. Port Huron at 1:00 p.m.
  • Utica Eisenhower vs. Rockford at 4:00 p.m.
  • Clarkston vs. Rochester Adams at 7:00 p.m.

Ford Field will also host an educational learning zone for those attending the games with an educational learning zone with information on universities, volunteer opportunities, student and youth groups, according to Forgotten Harvest.

“We are strongly committed to supporting youth football in our community and throughout the state of Michigan,” said Tom Lewand, Detroit Lions Team President, in a release. 

Tickets for the Forgotten Harvest Football Classic are available at ForgottenHarvest.org and at the Ford Field box office on the day of the game.
