Witnesses told Sterling Heights police that a BMW being driven by Saric was speeding in the Schoenherr and 19 Mile area around 11:15 p.m. when the crash took place.
According to the Wasik Funeral Home website, prayers are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Wasik Funeral Home-Shelby Chapel (49150 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby Township) followed by the funeral service at St. Stevan Decanski Serbian Orthodox (14235 E. 11 Mile Rd., Warren). Saric will be buried at Utica Cemetery (46325 Shelby Rd., Shelby Township).
Jovan Nikich, a 17-year-old Anchor Bay High School student who was a passenger in the car driven by Saric, was also killed.
The car went over the median, crashed into a tree and was sent airborne. It then passed into the southbound Schoenherr lanes, hit a Chrysler PT Cruiser and landed upside down on a Ford SUV, The Macomb Daily reports.
Two people inside the Ford, a man and woman in their early 30s, sustained minor injuries while the PT Cruiser driver was uninjured, Channel 4 stated.
