VIDEO: Gopher the Gold Charity Race Finishes Strong

Macomb County holds its 6th Annual Gopher the Gold Race on July 23 at 9 a.m. to raise money for the Macomb County Special Olympics.

While runners in the Gopher the Gold Race ranged in both ages and running experience, the event coordinators recognized several winners, from both the 5K and 10K runs, for coming out and giving their support. Event Coordinator Michael Ward said that this support helped to raise at least $7,500 for Macomb County Special Olympics.

The finishers that were awarded were the overall male and female winners from both the 5K and the 10K.  The coordinators also recognized the overall male and female Masters for each run, which are runners over 40 years old.  The final awards given were those to the top three finishers in the age groups of 12 & under, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

The race results can be found here.
