Schedule: Utica Ice Festival Feb. 10-12

Take a look at the flurry of activities taking place in Utica over the weekend for the annual Ice Festival.

Bundle up the kids and head to downtown Utica this weekend for the annual Ice Carving Spectacular Februay 10 through 12.

However, the celebration is set to kick off early with the first-ever Ice festival firework display Friday night. To make sure you don't miss a minute of the fun, here's a schedule of the festivities.

Friday Feb. 10

6 p.m. - 10 p.m.

  • The City of Utica will be closing Auburn Road in the downtown area, between Cass Avenue and Utica Road for the Utica Ice Carving Spectacular and firework show.

8:00 p.m. - Opening Ceremonies

  • Key to the City given to NHL Hall of Famer Kevin Hatcher, who owns in Utica.  
  • Patch and Biggby Utica will be handing out free warm drinks at the Riverwalk.

8:20 p.m.

  • 1st Annual firework show
  • Viewing of ice sculptures

Saturday Feb. 11

10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Used Book Sale Utica Library (buy a bag of books for $5)

12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Viewing of Ice Sculptures
  • Carriage rides
  • Childrens games
  • Hockey shoot
  • Mullett toss
  • Singers walking and singing on the streets
  • Garage Band Music
  • On-site ice carving throughout the day
  • Warming room at City Hall will be giving out hot chocolate
  • Firehouse will be selling hot dogs and pop

2 p.m.

  • Unveiling of winners from the local participating schools Ice Design Contest. The grand prize winning design will be carved on-site.

Sunday Feb. 12

11 a.m.- 3 p.m.

  • Utica Library Used Book Sale ($5 for a bag of books)

12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Viewing of ice sculptures
  • Carriage rides
  • Childrens games
  • Hockey shoot
  • Mullett toss
  • Singers walking and singing on the streets
  • Garage Band Music
  • On-site ice carving throughout the day

Weather Update

The weather forecast calls for a chance of snow showers and flurries Friday through Sunday.

Temperatures will be releatively chilly with a low of 14 degrees and a high of 35 Friday. A high of 25 and low of 13 is expected Saturday and a high of 25 and a low of 16 is in store for Sunday.
