Kahler's photo will replace the Shelby-Utica Patch's Facebook cover page, but before we post it, let's take a second to get to know our local photographer.

Patch: Where exactly was that photo taken?

Kahler: The photo was taken from Winter Cove, facing the island. Behind the
island is the boat rental portion of the park.

Patch: How did that shot catch your eye?

Kahler: My husband and I were just walking around taking in the beautiful
scenery on a gorgeous fall day. The view of the tall grass, water, trees
and reflections caught our attention, so we stopped for a picture.

Patch: What did you take the photo on? What kind of camera?

Kahler: I used a Canon PowerShot SD550 Digital Elph camera. It's a small, simple camera that fits easily into a pocket. I like that we can take it
anywhere and snap a picture at a moment's notice.

Patch: What's your favorite photography subject?

Kahler: My favorite photography subject is definitely nature. I love capturing
shots of various scenery -- especially trees, lakes, beaches and
sunsets. One of my favorite areas of the state to photograph is Traverse
City. I've always been drawn to water and hope to purchase a summer
cottage on the lake one day.

Patch: Have you ever taken photography classes?

Kahler: No, I've never taken a photography class, but I have thought it might be fun to try one sometime!
