Viewfinder: Club 22 Hosts Last Bash as Nightclub

NHL Hall of Famer and Club 22 Owner Dino Ciccarelli throws himself a birthday party Saturday.

Club 22 Owner and NHL Hall of Famer Dino Cicarelli celebrated his birthday and the last Saturday night party at the only dance club in Shelby Township.

As of 2 a.m. Saturday, the legendary club closed its doors, but only temporarily.

The club will reopen in the next few months as a “Vegas-Style” high-tech sports bar, according to Cicarelli, who said he has been visiting sports bars around the world to draw inspiration.

Cicarelli said his goal is to reopen the revamped sports bar with a top-notch kitchen, walls of HDTVs and grade-A sound systems, in time for a St. Patrick’s Day blowout.

Partygoers helped Cicarelli dance the night away Saturday, but for some people who have been coming to the club for the past six-years, it was a bitter-sweet night, especially for the staff.

Bartender Jen Berlin said she has been working at the bar for more than a year and will miss the regulars, but she hopes to have a job at the new sports bar.
