Avon Players Community Theatre presents the heartwarming musical, Little Women, opening this Friday, Sept. 13, and continuing on weekends through Sept. 28.

Based upon Louisa May Alcott's beloved 19th century novel, Little Women brings to life the March family of Concord, MA. In a time of war and sacrifice, Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth, guided by their mother Marmee, grow from girls into women, through romance and courtship, illness and loss, loving and letting go – issues which are as relevant today as when they were written.

The timeless narrative is brought to life in this exhilarating show filled with music, dancing and heart. Avon Players’ production is directed by Deneen Buitrago, with music direction by John “JD” Deierlien, and features a cast of 16 talented men, women and kids from across the Detroit metro area.

Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m. Ticket prices range from $18-20 and may be purchased at the box office in person, by phone at (248) 608-9077 or online at the Avon Players’ website, www.avonplayers.org

Student Rush seats are available for opening night, this Friday. Students get in for half price at the door with student ID card. Season tickets, Senior, and group rates are also available.

This year only, a special discount is available for season ticket holders. To remain competitive with area community theaters, Avon has raised their individual ticket sale prices minimally. However, season ticket prices will remain the same for the 2013-2014 season.

The Avon Players Theatre is located at 1185 Washington Road in Rochester and is a 501(c)3 non-profit community theatre serving Oakland and Macomb counties since 1947.
