Diana's House of Fashion

Fashion designer and seamstress Diana Darie offers custom-made clothing and alterations at her fashion boutique on Van Dyke in Shelby Township.

This week, Shelby-Utica Patch's Fashion Friday visited Diana's House of Fashion on Van Dyke Avenue.

The fashion boutique is owned by Diana Darie, a fashion designer and seamstress from Romania. Darie opened the store two years ago after working from her home for nine years.

Darie's daughter Roaxana often helps out at the store. She wants to follow in her mother's footsteps and become a fashion designer.

Darie designs and creates custom dance costumes, bridal gowns, bridesmaid dresses and much more. She specializes in wedding gowns, but creates custom clothing of any kind.

Everything at Diana's House of Fashion is made in the store and Darie often uses her own fabrics to make her creations. Customers may also bring in their own fabrics to use.

Darie said that every girl wants to have a dress that is her own. "We can make something special just for them."

Depending on the type of fabric used, Darie's designs are very affordable. Bridal gowns range in price from $600 to $2,000, depending on the design and labor involved.

The store offers alterations on dresses purchased in-house or elsewhere.

Diana's House of Fashion won first place for the Showbiz Regional Dance Competition's Best Costume award.

Darie's website will be up and running next month.
