Library Holds Free Wednesday Programs for Tweens and Teens

The Shelby Township Public Library is holding free Wednesday programs for tweens and teens grades five and up.

Programs planned include:

  • June 22: Edible Architecture, where kids will celebrate world architecture by creating their own replicas using kitchen ingredients.
  • June 29: Joel Tacey, Gamefest, with four video game stations, with monitors and accessories, featuring the latest editions of Guitar Hero, RockBand, DanceDanceRevolution and SuperSmash Brothers. Program runs until 3 p.m.
  • July 6: War and Peace. Kids are invited to compete in global games, fold origami cranes, and make a Japanese wind bell with a Haiku tag.
  • July 13: Every Land is Candy Land. Sample chocolates and other sweets from around the globe and enjoy some sweet trivia.
  • July 20: Magic Show with Baffling Bill. Bill and his magic rabbit will entertain and amuse.
  • July 27: Masks and Puppets from Around the World, presented by Arts & Scraps of Detroit. Kids will make their own mask using recycled goods. Program is limited to 35. Register at the Children's Information Desk.
  • Aug. 3. Have Duct Tape, Will Travel. Kids will make unique accessories with duct tape and celebrate the end of the series with pizza.
