Kristin Chenoweth Movie Filmed in Macomb County to Hit the Big Screen

The lakeside home of a Clinton Township dentist will be featured prominently in the movie "Family Weekend" that was filmed in Macomb County and will shown on the big screen in Birmingham this weekend.

Many Macomb County public and private locations were used in the filming of Family Weekend two years ago, and this weekend these landmarks and hundreds of local extras will get their time on big screen this weekend for a limited engagement showing of the movie at the Birmingham 8 theater.

One of the locations where the movie was shot included waterfront home of a Clinton Township dentist.

“It was a great experience for our whole family. Everyone associated with the movie was a pleasure to deal with,” said homeowner Christopher Press, who lives in Harrison Township. “I have only seen bits of the movie so far but from what I can tell, our community is realistically represented.”

The movie starring Kristin Chenoweth and Matthew Modine was filmed at Lakeview High School and other locations in Macomb County in 2011 with the stars and a number of Macomb County extras.

“We got such great treatment from everyone in Michigan and especially Macomb County,” said producer Adam Saunders of Footprint Features, in a release.  “Everyone we came in contact with went out of their way to make us feel safe and comfortable.  They really set the tone for a great project and the film reflects that.”

The film features a 16-year-old jump-roping champ who takes her dysfunctional parents hostage in an effort to transform them into an actual family.

It will be shown at the and will include a question and answer session Saturday evening with ddirector Benjamin Epps.
