Does your teen have star quality?

Track 26 Studios in New Haven is looking for talented kids, ages 12 to 15, to star in their new television show that features young people involved in "green" activities throughout the community.

"It's a show for kids, about kids and hopefully done by kids, we want them to help with the process," said Paul Lipowski, partner at Track 26. "The show is about the environment, planting and urban farming–things kids will deal with in school."

Track 26 will be auditioning kids from 1 to 5 p.m. July 21 at New Haven High School, 57700 Gratiot Ave., just north of 26 Mile Road.

Those auditioning "need to be outgoing" and be able to "stand and talk in front of the camera," Lipowski said. Six kids will be cast for the show and while other talents are a plus, Lipowski said producers are looking for "just regular kids."

The new television show is a partnership between Track 26 Studios and Kids Plant It Foundation. Detroit Public TV, WTVS Channel 56, will distribute the show and Lipowski said Track 26 expects to tape between 13 and 26 episodes.

Those attending the auditions are also invited to the New Haven Fun Fest, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 21 on the grounds of New Haven High School. This annual community-wide celebration includes a hometown idol contest, barbecue competition, live entertainment, track and field events, a firework show and more.
