Nancy's Bridal and Formal Boutique

Shelby-Utica fashion boutiques offer great new styles and accessories every week. Check back every Friday for the latest in tops, bottoms, bags, accessories and more.

This week, Shelby-Utica Patch's Fashion Friday visited Nancy's Bridal and Formal Boutique on Van Dyke Avenue.

The formal boutique is owned by Bona Petrevski, a seamstress from Europe. She worked in a shop in Romeo, Michigan, for a number of years before taking over after the owner retired. Since the former owner's name was Nancy, and since Petrevski's daughter is also named Nancy, she thought it fitting to keep the name.

Petrevski always wanted to be her own boss. She enjoys helping women find the perfect dress for their wedding. "I love my job. I love what I do. I want to make the brides happy," she said.

Nancy's is truly a family business. Petrevski's daughter Nancy, and her daughter-in-law Lori often help out at the store.  Petrevski hopes that her daughter-in-law will take over when she retires. She wants her three granddaughters to eventually continue the family business.

Nancy's Bridal specializes in wedding gowns, mother of the bride, prom and other special occasion dresses, as well as tuxedos. They also carry jewelry, tiaras and all kinds of veils.

The store offers free alterations with a dress purchase. They also offer alterations on outside purchases.

Petrevski recently donated more than 50 gowns to the Salvation Army.
