Shelby Library's Fall Lineup Includes Story Time, Dancing and Crafts

Check out the fall line up at the Shelby Township library.

The hosts weekly events for kids of all ages.  Since literacy begins at a young age, they focus on toddlers and pre-k for reading activities.

Every Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. is the Story Times with the Book Bunch, for toddlers, ages 2-3½. The children and their caregivers are invited to join the librarian as they share story times, songs and “show and tell.”

Later on Wednesday afternoons, from 1 to 1:30 p.m., the Preschool Pages are held. This is for ages 3½-5 years old and allows preschoolers to have independent story time, with their caregivers joining for their activity afterwards. These activities include sharing books, dancing, and making special crafts.

Mary Jane Benner and Catherine Schmidt are the children’s librarians.  “We have a lot of fun sharing books. We try to do a lot of different things to promote literacy,” Schmidt said. Miss Catherine, as the children called her, read a story Wednesday about all the different children’s names.

For all of the Wednesday sessions, pre-registration is required, and can be done so by all Shelby Township Library cardholders by going to www.shelbytwplib.org. For those who wish to attend drop in sessions, they are available too every other Thursdays for preschoolers, and even a session for the babies held every Friday.
