Weekend Kicks Off Shelby Twp. Annual Art Fair

Shelby Township's 28th Annual Art Fair brings the community together in a weekend of fun, festivities and fine arts.

If you ever wanted to see the masterpieces of great artists, but haven’t wanted the eight-hour plane ride that goes along with it … then listen up.  The Shelby Township Annual Art Fair is bringing you great works of art right here at home. 

For 28 years, this fair has been attracting artists and art enthusiasts alike to enjoy the beautiful art pieces such as glasswork, paintings, pottery, photography, woodwork, metalwork, jewelry, fiber creations, drawings, etc.    

To take part in this fair and have the opportunity to bring one of these unique pieces home with you, head out to the on Aug. 13-14. The fair, which is hosted by the Shelby Parks, Recreation and Maintenance Department as well as the Shelby Township Fine Art Committee, is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

In addition to the many art booths, the event will also feature live musical entertainment throughout both days with a lineup that includes Rick & Dayna Duo, Stefan Kukuragya Smooth Jazz Trio and Sounds of Sinatra featuring Mark Randisi. 

Not only is this an event for the eyes and ears, but now the mouth, too.  Many yummy refreshments from P.G. Foods, The Ice Cream & Custard Shops, Shelby Lions Club Kitchen, Old Country Kettle Corn, and Nutty Buddies Roasted Nuts will be offered at the fair.

And there is no need to worry about the kids around fragile works of art.  The fair will have many things to keep them busy, such as a Kid’s Corner with arts and crafts, inflatable bouncers to burn some energy, tours of the Andrews Schoolhouse Museum and an opportunity to touch live animals from the . 

With free parking and admission, the Louvre ain’t got nothing on Shelby’s annual art fair.  Just come out and see for yourself.
