Shoe Strings Children's Shoes

Shelby-Utica fashion boutiques offer great new styles and accessories every week. Check back every Friday for the latest in tops, bottoms, bags, accessories and more.

This week, Shelby-Utica Patch's Fashion Friday visited Shoe Strings Children's Shoes on Van Dyke Avenue.

The children's shoe boutique is owned by Maria Aluia. Aluia worked with children's shoes at Jacobsen's years ago, and loved it. She decided three years ago to open her own shop. She decided to open in Shelby because she thought the area needed a children's shoe store. "I liked the plaza here, and there's no other store like this."

Aluia's daughter Ann Marie helps out at the store, usually on weekends. She works in fashion merchandising and does most of the buying for the store.

Shoe Strings specializes in medium, wide and narrow shoes for children. They carry sizes from infant to junior six. Shoe Strings offers a number of specialty shoes, but they also carry name brands like Sketchers, Stride Rite, Jumping Jacks, Lelli Kelly, Ugg and more.

Shoe Strings is unique because it carries an assortment of hats, hair bows and headbands, photo albums and raincoats for kids.

The store always has specials and sales on their merchandise.

At Shoe Strings, Aluia fits each child properly into a great pair of shoes. Since a child's feet grow every three months, it is important to fit them in quality shoes that are comfortable and fit well. This prevents foot problems later in life.

Aluia donated gift certificates to Holy Family, St. Lawrence and a number of preschools in the area. She also participates with Soles for Souls, a charity that collects shoes and sends them to less fortunate children. Drop off your unwanted children's shoes at Shoe Strings.

Be sure to visit their website for more information about this great children's shoe boutique.
