Sound Off in Stony Creek Metropark

Find out the music concerts coming to Stony Creek Metropark in July and get ready to jam.

It’s summer, and that means it’s time to get out and rock out! And Stony Creek Metropark is here to help.

The metropark is offering three concerts this July, all of which are free except for the required vehicle entry permit of an annual pass or $5 per visit.

All concerts are at 7:30 p.m. at Eastwood Beach, and the park recommends that concertgoers arrive early for the best seating.

Want to make a whole evening of it? Feel free to bring a blanket and picnic basket, or food will also be available at the park’s concession area (but no glass containers are allowed). So throw that blanket in the backseat, pack that picnic basket and get ready to enjoy some great tunes!

Sun Messengers Concert–Friday, July 8

Find out what's happening in Shelby-Uticawith free, real-time updates from Patch.

The Sun Messengers, an eight-piece R&B show-band, will be playing a variety of music at the Friday concert. The band plays everything from Motown classics and old school funk to classic rock and jazz standards. While they have been the house band for the Detroit Pistons since 1996, the metropark is lucky enough to have this headlining group. So make sure to pencil this concert onto your calendar so you can enjoy some fun in the sun with the Sun Messengers.

Air Margaritaville Concert–Friday, July 22

Have any plans for the 22nd? Well now you do: a concert with Air Margaritaville! The seven-person Premier Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band will be playing, you guessed it, Jimmy Buffet songs. This band will make you feel like you are in paradise where the palm trees are tall and the margaritas cold. So if you want to take a trip to paradise and take in some tropical sounds, then you don’t have to travel far at all, just head on over to the metropark.

Intrigue Concert–Friday, July 29

Intrigued about Intrigue? Well, rightly so! Intrigue is a big band that will be playing contemporary Top 40 music as well as variety of tunes such as oldies, Motown, classic rock, disco and more. The band also offers several ethnic selections in French, Spanish and Italian. With great vocals and an excellent rhythm section, Intrigue is the perfect way to hear a little music for everyone and end the month of July with a bang!
