Construction Begins on Second Panera Bread Location in Shelby Township

A second Panera Bread that features a drive-thru window will open shortly in Shelby Township on 26 Mile Road.

A second Panera Bread location will open in Shelby Township where the former Blockbuster store on 26 Mile Road once stood.

Construction crews have already started renovating the former Blockbuster, located at 8492 26 Mile Road, into the 3,800 square foot bakery-cafe.

John King, superintendent for Conboy-Mannion, the construction company erecting the building said the location will be corporate-owned, and is expected to open by the end of May.

King added that although the restaurant may be a bit smaller than most, it will feature a drive-thru window, so customers can get their favorite sourdough bread bowl without even exiting their vehicles.

The other Panera Bread is located on Hall Road.
