Downtown Utica Restaurant to Get New Name

The Cass Bar and Grill in downtown Utica is now known as Hogs Hollow Smokehouse.

The Cass Bar and Grill is undergoing a name change to better represent the restaurant, and one of its signature items, the owner states.

The family-friendly restaurant serves freshly made southern-influenced foods, including ribs, chicken and brisket which are smoked daily.

"The name Cass Bar and Grill no longer describes what we are all about. For this reason we now will be known as Hogs Hollow Smokehouse," John Sattmann, owner of Hogs Hollow Smokehouse said in a release.

The name Hogs Hollow comes from the original settlers to the region in 1829, and to show that support for the area, Sattmann buys Michigan-made products including serving local beers on tap and noodles used in the smokehouse mac and cheese.

"We really believe this great little city should be showcased as much as possible," added Sattmann, who helps organize events including the Utica Riverwalk Festival.
