Dueling Trampoline Parks to Vie for Bounce Business in Shelby Township

Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park has set its sights on the corner of 23 Mile and Schoenherr, while AirTime Trampoline & Game Park has yet to announce a location.

With both Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park and AirTime Trampoline & Game Park announcing plans to open facilities in Shelby Township this year, prospective customers are left to wonder which business will get the jump on the other in terms of opening date.

Sky Zone said "summer" in a January press release, while AirTime posted "late spring/summer" on its Facebook page Feb. 17.

Tucked between Taco Bell and Plaster Playhouse, a "coming soon" sign bears witness to the fact that the corner of 23 Mile and Schoenherr will soon be home to Sky Zone, but AirTime has given no indication of where it will set up its bounce business as of yet.

“In 2004 when the first Sky Zone opened its doors, we knew we wanted to spread our concept throughout the United States and beyond to allow as many people to experience a new kind of activity and entertainment,” said Jeff Platt, President of Sky Zone LLC, in a release. “Thus far, our facilities have been a big hit in Canton and in other parts of the country, and we are looking forward to bringing Novi and Shelby Township residents the perfect combination of fun and fitness with Sky Zone’s ultimate high-flying experience.”

Whereas SkyZone bills itself as the "original indoor trampoline park" and the "world's first all-trampoline, walled playing court" in the Metro Detroit area, AirTime promises patrons a "high energy trampoline and music experience unlike any other."

Both facilities feature party packages, open jump times and various team-building activities and games, but also provide their own unqiue programs. Music plays a central role in AirTime's offerings, where SkyZone has designed its own version of an aerobic workout, known as SkyRobics.
