Erma Original Frozen Custard to Celebrate 70th Birthday with Backyard Carnival

The Shelby Township Historic Society will give Erma Original Frozen Custard a special birthday gift.

is celebrating its 70th Birthday May 19 with a Shelby Township Historical Site designation and a backyard carnival.

Since the custard shop opened in Shelby Township in 1942, it has hosted a number of birthday parties for the young and young at heart, but this year, Erma is asking customers to help celebrate it’s birthday.

The May 19 birthday party, which will feature a carnival, face painting and plenty of cold treats, will be held at both Erma locations in Shelby Township on Auburn Road and Warren on 14 Mile Road.

The Shelby Township Historical Society will designate the Shelby Township shop as a historic site, with a plaque that will be placed in the Erma gardens.

To celebrate the big year for , the custard shop will offer Christmas in July and kick off a “create your own flavor” contest.

Contest

Create Your Own Flavor contest will run throughout the summer months, culminating with the winner’s flavor being announced on Labor Day. Entries will be accepted between Memorial Day and July 4; the top three choices will be voted on until Labor Day. The winning flavor will run the entire week of September 24, 2012. The winner will have the option of naming the flavor, including using their own name.

Christmas in July

During the week of July 23-29, 2012 Erma’s will feature a Christmas in July promotion. Traditional Christmas special flavors will be offered, along with Christmas music, decorations, a Toys-for-Tots campaign, and maybe a special visit from a certain red-clad man.
