Hackers Hit Fifth Third Bank Website

The bank, which has two branches in the area of Shelby Township and Utica, tells customers their accounts are secure.

WXYZ reports that Fifth Third Bank's website was hacked on Tuesday.

Fifth Third has two branches in the area of Shelby Township and Utica – 54870 Mound and 13555 23 Mile Rd.

According to the report, hackers did not gain access to customer data. The attack denied service to customers, by flooding the site with traffic.

On Tuesday, the bank posted the following message on its Facebook page:

"We're actively monitoring and assessing delays on 53.com. This slowdown has not impacted customer accounts. We are working to restore online connectivity as soon as possible and will provide updates when available."
