Huron-Clinton Metroparks Commissioners Cut Ribbon on Stony's New Playscape

Stony Creek's new playground has the largest cabled spider web in Michigan.

The Huron-Clinton Metroparks Commissioners and staff ceremoniously dedicated at Eastwood Beach Thursday.

Anthony V. Marrocco, chairman of the Huron-Clinton Metroparks Board of Commissioners, representing Macomb County; John E. La Belle, vice-chairman of the Board, representing Livingston County; and Harry E. Lester, representing Wayne County, cut the ribbon at the entry to one of the largest play areas of its kind in Michigan.

The new playground, which takes up almost one acre of the beachfront and cost $576,000, features the largest cabled spider web in Michigan, along with various slides, platforms, bridges, spinners and climbing structures. The project also includes seating areas, a new walkway, and landscaping, along with irrigation system improvements.
