New Fitness Center To Occupy Former Kroger in Utica

Utica is about to get a little more fit with the opening of a new Planet Fitness Gym.

After more than 10 years of bearing with the 47,000 square foot vacancy where the former Kroger was located on Schoenheerr Road, Utica will finally get a new tenant.

Planet Fitness will open at 45501 Schoenherr Road, in the same plaza as Kohl’s and Target, by the end of March.  The opening of the Utica location will mark the 25th Planet Fitness in Michigan and the 500th across the nation.  The closest Planet Fitness is in Sterling Heights.

Planet Fitness will occupy nearly 30,000 square feet of the building. The rest of the building will be sectioned off and leased out. Owners of the building, Schostak Brothers Co. of Livonia, were not available for comment on the property.
