Wig Boutique

Shelby-Utica fashion boutiques offer great new styles and accessories every week. Check back every Friday for the latest in tops, bottoms, bags, accessories and more.

This week, Shelby-Utica Patch's Fashion Friday visited Wig Boutique on 14183 Lakeside Boulevard North in Shelby.

The boutique is owned and operated by Lisa Hammond. Hammond opened her store six years ago after working as a hair dresser for many years. She said she always loved working with hair, and she also loved wigs. "I took a buyout from Blue Cross and I wanted to do something I love," she said. Hammond wears hair pieces herself, so a wig boutique seemed like a perfect fit.

Longtime customer, turned wig expert Lynn Harris, helps out at the boutique. She has been working at Wig Boutique for two years. Harris said she thoroughly enjoys her job. "I love wigs, and I love helping people. I lost my hair, and I know how people feel. It's never a bad hair day here. People can come in crying and leave laughing."

Hammond said, "We are sensitive to your needs and will do all that we can to make your experience as comfortable as possible." A large portion of her clientele are former chemotherapy patients.

Hammond donates wigs to kids year-round. Any child suffering hair loss for any reason may visit Wig Boutique and receive a free hair piece.
