Chase Away the Clouds with Friday Night Jello Wrestling

It's been a long week and now is the time for a little fun in Utica and Shelby; relax, have a drink, listen to live music or go watch jello wrestling.

Friday is here, and our superhero day of the week has chased the clouds and rain away and in its place has brought you a fun Friday you can focus on in Utica and Shelby Township.

Santino's will be sizzling this evening with the classic rock sounds of Mid Life Crisis. Featuring three sets of distinct sounds–classic rock, dance and hard rockin'–Mid Life Crisis is bringing the better weather in with a resounding sound and high fun factor.

Consisting of Tom Prokuda on drums, Brad Pike and Dennis Farrand on guitar, Wayne Zwicki on keyboards and Dwayne Tompkin leading the boys in the band on vocals, they're no strangers to Santino's or big venues. They've opened for '80s favs Night Ranger and Winger and usually play Santino's the last Friday of every month.

"We've been together for a year now and we're not looking for recording contracts. We just want to be the best and most entertaining band in Detroit. We're here for fun," says Prokuda. The band typically packs Santino's when they play.

There's no cover before 9 p.m. and Mid Life Crisis goes on at 9:30 p.m. You can follow the band and upcoming gigs on Facebook and find more info about Santino's here on Patch.com.

If you're feeling festive and funky, head to Theme Party Fridays at . Each Friday finds the staff and the crazy crowds following a certain theme, complete with proper decor, music and outlandish outfits.

"We've been doing these theme Fridays for a bit now and each one gets more fun," says head waitress and emcee Gretchen Hyland. "It really seems like the crowd is digging it."

This Friday be prepared for action as Walton's busts out jello wrestling. The staff will go toe-to-toe to take down their fellow compatriots and there will be specials on beer, drinks and jello shots (of course).  DJ Shea Thomas spins tunes to make you boogie down.

On a side note, don't miss the patio-opening party next Thursday at Walton's Lodge.
