FBI: Crime Rate in Shelby Decreases in 2010

Compared with 2009 stats, violent crimes and property crimes in Shelby Township decreased in 2010, according to information released by the FBI.

Nationwide and in Shelby Township, crime rates decreased in 2010 compared to 2009, according to data compiled by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The recently released report was compiled by information submitted from more than 18,000 city, county, university, college, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies across the country.

The FBI said there were 1,246,248 violent crimes and 9,082,887 property crimes in the U.S. in 2010.

In Shelby, there were 89 violent crimes in 2010, compared to 93 in 2009 and there were 945 property crimes in 2010 compared to 1,007 in 2009.

However, in 2010, there were two murder and non-negligent manslaughter crimes compared to zero in 2009.
