Grab & Go Kids Planner: Crafts, Stories, More to Shake Off Winter Blahs

Bust the family out of the winter blahs with fun at Shadbush, enjoy some sweet crafts and more this week


Where/When: Barnes & Noble, Wednesday, Feb. 23, 10-1o:30 am.
Why Go: Reading does a child good, so bring your youngsters to the bookstore and let them enjoy a story and craft.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Shelby Township Library, Friday, Feb. 25, 10:30-11 am.
Why Go: It's a bit of fun at the library for babies and their caregivers, with stories, songs and toy time.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: Burgess-Shadbush Nature Center, Friday, Feb. 25, at 7 pm.
Why Go: The nature center holds regular Nature Nights events. Kids will learn plenty of cool things about all kinds of critters, through figures and pictures.
Pricing: $2 for ages 12-adult; $1 for ages 4-11

Where/When: Plaster Playhouse, Saturday, Feb. 26, from 10 am-12 pm.
Why Go: Kids will make their own hot cocoa mug at the Plaster Playhouse Art Studio and get a lesson making homemade hot chocolate and no-bake chocolate cookies. Kids also get to take home their own "Chocolate Cookbook," and moms will make mugs for themselves, too. Sweet!
Pricing: The event is organized by Macomb Township Parks & Recreation; cost is $15 per person for Macomb Township residents, $20 for non-residents.

Where/When: , Saturday, Feb. 26, from 11 am-3 pm.
Why Go: Winter got you down? Have a case of cabin fever? Chase away the blahs at Shadbush with a day full of nature walks, crafts, stories, a visit to the cabin, games, bird-watching and more. Bring a lunch to enjoy in the multi-purpose room.
Pricing: $2 per person, age 4 and older.
