Happening This Weekend: Cruising Fun and More

Two cruises to enjoy, free family fun and more await your weekend planning and beyond.

MOUNT CLEMENS IS JAMMIN'
Where/When: Downtown Mount Clemens, 7:30-11 p.m. Aug. 5.
Why Go: Enjoy two free concerts, the last of the season, in downtown Mount Clemens. At 7:30 p.m. Air Margaritaville performs Jimmy Buffett classics as part of the , along the waterfront. Head over to the at 9:30 p.m. for a show by The Allies, who'll perform acoustic rock with edge.


Where/When: Fern Hill Golf & Country Club, 17600 Clinton River Road, Clinton Township; 8 a.m. Aug. 6.
Why Go: The Solanus Casey Center is holding its 8th Annual Golf Outing at Fern Hill Golf & Country Club. Continental breakdfast and registration begins at 8 a.m. Shotgun start is 9 a.m. Players will enjoy 18 holes of golf with cart, lunch and prizes.

Where/When: Shelby Township Community Center, 51670 Van Dyke; 12-2 p.m. Aug. 6.
Why Go: The Township is holding its 6th Annual Kid-to-Kid Sale, where kids can stop and shop for bargains, or children ages 4 to 16 are invited to sell or trade old toys, video games, books, sports equipment and more.

Where/When: American Legion Hall, 46146 Cass, Utica; 11:15 a.m. Aug. 6.
Why Go: It's time for the 8th annual "Cruisin' with the Oldies" car show, with food, fun, classic cars and more in the works. It all gets under way with a parade at 11:15 a.m., starting at the American Legion Hall and heading into downtown Utica.
Pricing: Free, unless you want to register and show your car. In that case cost is $10.


Where/When: All along Gratiot, from 14 Mile to Wellington Crescent; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Aug. 7.
Why Go: Celebrate the Motor City's heritage with this awesome cruise, attended by more than 100,000 people, and now in its 9th year. Enjoy music, memories, cool cars, and plenty of other fun for all ages all day long.
Pricing: Free.

Where/When: , 6-10 p.m. Aug. 10.
Why Go: Enjoy a free family fun night under the stars. Kids will have a blast among the inflatables, getting their faces painted and more. Closer to dark, everyone can settle in for a showing of Yogi Bear.
