The Utica Police Department arrested Drew Jonathon Gidding, 29, of Rochester Hills, for breaking and entering, home invasion, and forced entry after he allegedly entered a home on Vanker Ave. July 23.
According to police reports, Gidding busted into a vacant home in the early morning hours near Vanker and Hahn through a rear bedroom window that was kept open to reduce heat. Officers reported a sliced screen on the bedroom window as well damaged to the garage door’s lock and frame.
The owner of the home lives next door and stated to police that no one has lived in the house for two years. It was also empty of most items. Nothing was missing.
After receiving a witness tip from a Troy Police Department detective who was in the area, the Utica Police Department pulled Gidding’s gold Jeep Cherokee over near Grant Park. He was patted down for weapons and arrested.
Officers obtained a warrant to search his vehicle and found a screwdriver, flashlight, gloves, and a stolen credit card belonging to an Auburn Hills resident. They also searched his room at the Utica Laquinta Hotel. In addition, officers discovered Gidding had a warrant out for arrest in Clinton Township for burglary.
